NEW LIFE "N" The News!!!

Some big changes are in the works for New Life Family Church and Faith Chapel Assembly of God.
Church leaders have been working on a way to merge the congregations since January, and the final plan is nearly complete.
But, there are a few steps that have yet to be taken. Each congregation must vote on the matter. Members of New Life will vote in less than a week and the congregation at Faith Chapel is scheduled to make the decision Dec. 5.
The merger would have New Life Pastors Erik and Susana Kingsley become the new pastors of Faith Chapel. Current Faith Chapel Pastor Bob Cave would then spend most of his time at the other two branches of the church, one in Gardner and the other in Overland Park.
The New Life congregation would then join the members of Faith Chapel for worship every Sunday.
Arguably the most significant question to answer, however, is what will happen to the old New Life building?
From a youth and community center to a coffee shop and Christian music venue, the Kingsleys and Cave are chock-full of ideas for the newly renovated facility’s fate.
“A big part of our vision is the utilization of that building,” Cave said. “It would be key to reaching out to the community.”
As for the churches’ messages, Erik said they’re essentially the same.
“We’re two churches, but we have the same heart, same vision, same philosophy of ministry and the same doctrine,” he said.
Susana added, “We can do more together than we can do apart.”
These similarities created something of a redundancy in a community as small as Louisburg, as they had been sending the same message to two groups of people. With that in mind, Cave said, merging would just make logical sense.
“It’s the same town, the same people and the same kind of church,” Cave said, adding he has served as an overseer and mentor to the Kingsleys for more than two years. “I’m so invested in Erik and Susana and in their ministry.”
If the vote goes through and everything happens like Cave and the Kingsleys hope, the first service as a combined congregation would be Dec. 19, but the grand opening would be scheduled for Jan. 9, 2011.
“We’re still independent fellowships and we’re interdenominational,” Erik said. “We’ll just be joining the fellowships together, which just will make us stronger.”
Cave added, “There’s a lot of synergy with us coming together.”
Check future issues of the Louisburg Herald for details on the potential merger.
