PART 2--FALL LIFE GROUPS

Life groups can be anything you do life through with Moms, singles, sports, business, cooking, painting, curriculum study, Financial Peace Dave Ramsey, book study, garage sales, ministry and the list goes on.

* All curriculum or book studies must be approved by the church.

Life groups also are the "Dream Team" ministries like "Greeters, ushers, hospitality, sound/lighting etc."

Many times members have a desire to do something like outreach, garage sales, nursing home, security, exercise, etc and the list goes on, and on. If God has put a ministry idea that can reach people, minister to people, or expand the church.

Now instead of the church leadership trying to motivate and organize these ministries. We have taken the position to empower you, coach you, mentor you, and help you start a Life group with your friends. For you to be free and empowered by the church to do what God has put in your heart. Through mentoring, training, and life you will be fulfilled, and released to do what God has led you to do for him! This is a wonderful thing....

So everything we do as a church take place in life groups.

Brief characteristics of Life Groups:

They meet weekly.
They have 3 or more people attending, including the leader.
They develop and identify an assistant leader.
The group meeting includes one or more of the following: prayer, worship, Bible study, and/or testimonies
Unless otherwise specifies, the group welcomes new people into their meetings.
They are supported by church pastors and elders.
They develop group members into future leaders.
They encourage members to invite people who are outside the church.
They complete their topic by the end of the trimester.
They grow

How Life Groups Work

1. Free market groups.

Free market groups meet the felt needs of people and therefore a multitude of topics and interests are available. People choose the type of group they want to go to based on relationships and/or interest or a need they might have. The number of people in each group is not limited, but left up to the ability of the leader and the interest of the people.
Since leaders are able to express their gifts in areas that are appealing to them, every member of the church can have a ministry outlet.

2. Three semesters.

New Life groups start and stop three times a year--with spring, Summer and fall semesters. Each semester is kicked off with a Rally Day celebration where each group is showcased to the church.

The semester system makes it easy for new members to join a life group. Clear starting and stopping dates allow people to know the commitment beforehand.
Groups that are thriving will continue on from semester to semester, and the groups that are lacking in participation will continue developing their ministry opportunities.

3. Becoming a leader.

Everyone has areas of strengths and gifting that could benefit others. The first step in becoming a small group leader is to identify that area of gifting then attend the Life Group Leader Orientation. These orientations will be offered as often as possible.

FALL LIFE GROUPS

PART 1—LIFE GROUPS

I am so excited about the launch of the FALL LIFE GROUPS in September. I know many of you have expressed interest in starting up a life group, and others want to connect in relationship with others… This is the process we use for anyone and everyone to have an “approved” life group and it helps us to get the word out to the church about various departments. And just FYI any “ministry” (i.e. Greeters, Hospitality Team, Ushers, New Life Kids, Women’s Group, Men’s Group, Youth Group, Worship Group, etc.) … is a Life Group. Our goal as a church is for us to help you find your passion and gifts and empower you to use them for Jesus. To connect in relationships by doing life together! We don’t want you to stop doing life to do ministry, but to continue to do life and we will help you learn how to minister to each other and reach others as we do life together. Also there will be ongoing training and mentoring from Larry Clark (Associate Pastor, Head of Life Groups) and other life group coaches in the future.

Interested in being a life-group leader?
Here is the next step…
1) TRAINING - Sunday, September 13th – 5:30 PM at New Life’s building – you must attend this because we will give very clear expectations on what a Life Group is … what you can expect from us and what we expect from you. (every leader will have to complete the GROWTH TRACK that starts the first Sunday evening in October, in the next 4-6 weeks)
*childcare available, by r.s.v.p. email nlfc@midwest-connections.com

Interested in connecting in a Life group?
2) Rally Day – Sunday, September 27th – this is the day that you will set up a table FLEA MARKET STYLE to introduce your group to other people… the bigger the louder your table is the better! Go crazy with it! This is also the official START WEEK for Fall Life Groups!3) Fall Life Groups will officially END doing a “community service project” on Saturday December 12th, of the groups choosing (New Life will provided a list of ideas).
Thank you and let’s get ready to do life together!
